Virtual Media Rentals
Just like rending a DVD or tape from a video rental store, DAS model for rules-based DRM licensing allows for a variety of flexible scenarios such as allowing unlimited access to the content during the "Rental Period" (validity period of the license of a time-limited rental). Additionally, more granular control over access parameters included in the latest implementations of DRM is always available (e.g. limited number of plays, start of rental period countdown from the first play, etc.)
While protecting Downloadable Media with DRM for Virtual Media Rentals is imperative, protection of streaming content for Virtual Rentals can be achieved using additional methods that do not require implementation of DRM. DAS has developed a unique suite of Media Plugins that allow robust protection and management of streaming content either with or without DRM technology.
